[Action: Somewhere in the village - Sakura Only]

[Taken from the battlefield, Hinata let out a gasp before she found herself waking up on the ground. She slowly stood, taking in the fact that she was wearing clothing that was decidedly not her uniform from the war. In fact, her arms and legs were sticking out of the flimsy white dress, making her feel extremely under-dressed.

As she turned around, she saw a flash of purple that seemed to remind her a little of the jacket from her normal outfit. She reached out to grab at the colorful thing and brought back a handful of lavender feathers. Suddenly, she was overcome with nausea and lightheadedness before she passed out, never noticing the familiar face of her pink-haired comrade from Konoha as the blackness took over her again.]

[Have a very confused looking hime-type, Luceti. Complete with the self-conscious blush.] E-excuse me. M-my name is Hyuuga Hinata. I have just arrived here to this village. [The camera shifts to point out her lavender wings.] If they serve no practical usage, why are they there? And am I the only one who discovered a brand on the back of their neck? They seem rather obvious.

Huh? Yeah, I'm fine. I'm not the one having to get used to the wings here after all. And uh, just Caius is fine... Or Caius-kun I guess?

[He'll never really understand these honorific things.]

I am glad to hear that you are well. I-I will endeavor to get used to the wings as quickly as possible so that they no longer seem like a burden. Do not worry, C-caius-kun.

[You've given her the permission to call you by your personal name, so that's fine, but she's never going to address you without the appropriate honorific. That's just not done.]

[But what's wrong with just calling someone by their name?! Sigh.]

There's nothing to worry about, before you know it you'll barely notice they're there. Unless you end up rolling onto them in your sleep.

[Um, that requires a familiarity that Hinata and Caius don't have yet! He is welcome to call her Hinata though! Besides, her family is very formal.]

That sounds painful.

[To him, knowing a person's name makes them familiar enough. Adding a -kun or a -san or whatever just seems confusing. Plus he wouldn't know when to use which honorific and... Yeah. He'll stick with Hinata.]

That's because it is painful. It's even worse when you first arrive and you keep forgetting about them.

[Then you end up leaning on things and, oh right, the wings. Ow.]

But like I said, you get used to them. They toughen up pretty quickly so you don't have to worry about what you're doing with them all the time.

[That's fine, Caius. Hinata's used to it by now. And she does understand the rules, so it's all good!]

I might have...accidentally removed a few feathers upon my arrival. I...I became slightly ill. Is that normal?

Yeah, you get sick when the wings are damaged or if any feathers fall out. They grow back pretty quickly though, I think.

[He tries not to lose any feathers himself so he's not too sure on the regrow time.]

How did you accidentally manage to lose some feathers anyway?

Thank goodness! [She heaves a sigh of relief so big that it would look odd on anyone else, but she somehow manages to make it a little dignified.

But that's short-lived as her cheeks redden pretty quickly.]

You might have... Huh?

[He leans in closer to the journal as though that might help him better understand what Hinata just said.]

You pulled some out, is that what you said?

Y-yes...

[She may or may not resemble a kicked puppy or just a really embarrassed girl admitting to something very silly.]

I-I did not know what the flash of color at my back was and when I attempted to reach for it, I came back with feathers before...passing out.

So you ended up yanking out a whole lot of feathers at once...

[Ouch. Still, that's one way of learning about the wings.]

You should have just looked over your shoulder to see what was there instead.

I-I had just come from the battlefield. Sudden flashes of light u-usually are not friendly...

Oh, I get it now. I guess that makes sense, if I was in a fight and saw light flashing around me or whatever then I'd think it was something bad too.

Y-yes, but I know better now. [God, this is so embarrassing for her. She's only just gotten here and already she's making herself seem inept and dumb.]

[He really has no room to judge when it comes to making yourself seem dumb, when he arrived he was a complete mess.]

Well good. But still, make sure not to make a swipe for your wings if you end up on a draft and you see flashing colours around you or something.

Ino-san mentioned the draft. I have yet to read the guide she sent to me through this journal, but it has something to do with the conflict our captors has with their opposition, yes?

[She frowns at his comment, but nods all the same.] I do not plan on making the same mistake twice, but I shall keep that in mind. Thank you, Caius-kun.

Yeah, something like that. [It's been a pretty long time since he last looked at the guide, so most of what he knows is info he's picked up from going on drafts himself.]

The Malnosso send us off to fight against the Third Party with a bunch of other guys from other enclosures. Sometimes you end up fighting for days on end, it's rough out there.

[This subject hits a little too close to home, considering she's just come from a war. She struggles with trying to keep her composure, but it's impossible.]

E-excuse me. I-I have to go. Sorry. [She doesn't even make it all the way to closing the journal before she's begun crying.]

[Whoops. He didn't even think about drawing some sort of connection between the war here and the place Hinata came from, even though he heard her mention a battlefield earlier.]

Wha- Hey! [Ugh. With the journal still open he can hear her crying, and that bothers him. Making a New Feather cry was not something he was intending to do.] Hinata, wait a sec!

[She hears his voice, but instead of responding, she slams the cover of the journal shut before sobbing harder. She'll probably regret the slip later, but right now, she needs the stress relief that the crying gives her. But just for this one moment.

She'll apologize to Caius at a later date.]

[Damn it, he wasn't expecting their conversation to end like that. What's more, he feels annoyed that he doesn't know why she suddenly burst into tears and slammed the journal on him. Maybe he'll connect the dots looking back on this later, but probably not.

He slams his own journal shut, tosses it haphazardly into his room and decides to keep off the journals for the rest of the day.]
